Patricia Ann Pfeiffer (McGlumphy), amateur comedian, avid conversationalist, professional homemaker and gifted soprano, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 as only she could, with a phone in her hand, a bowl of popcorn on her lap and a Diet-Coke nearby. Pat was never one to miss the moment or a piece of cake so she joined her late husband Ben in Heaven on his birthday and most likely uttered her signature phrase: “Ben, it’s hot in here”. If laughter truly is the best medicine, Pat Pfeiffer lived a well medicated 81 years.
Long considered Ma Bell’s best friend and perhaps believing brevity was for the weak, Pat loved to talk on the phone, and rarely missed her scheduled calls to friends and family. With a look that could kill but a laugh that could heal, Pat liberally dispensed humor throughout her career as a wife, mother and friend. A spirited gal from Uhrichsville, Pat graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1951, and embarked on many adventures with husband Ben.
Taking Dylan Thomas to heart, Pat did not go gentle into that good night, choosing golden highlights over golden buckeyes, a little black convertible over a big boring Chrysler, and remains one of very few that could properly accessorize purple with bright red lipstick and a splash of leopard print.
Pat is survived by son, Jeffery Charles Pfeiffer and wife, Helen (Cross) of Dover, daughter Jennifer Christine Pfeiffer and partner, Jill Ward of Canton, and son Christopher Benjamin Pfeiffer and wife Tracee (Davis) of Marietta as well as grandchildren, Eric Pfeiffer (Julie), Amber Murphy (Mike), Emma Pfeiffer, Benjamin Pfeiffer, and Nikko Pfeiffer-Ward, and great grandchildren Katelynn Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Jack Murphy, Nathan Pfeiffer, Daniel Pfeiffer and Rachel Pfeiffer, as well many, many friends.
Pat was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 60 years Benjamin C. Pfeiffer, her parents, George McGlumphy and Della Mea McGlumphy (Wallace), brother, George McGlumphy, and twin baby boys.
In lieu of flowers, Pat requested that you gals grab your compact, fix your lipstick and make your man take you out for an evening on the town. Contributions can also be made to the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts, 461 Robinson Drive SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

Rohn will lead a memorial service celebrating Pat’s life held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:30 PM with the family greeting guests one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1:30 – 2:30 PM. Following the service, all are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center. Private burial alongside her beloved husband, Ben, took place in the Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery.
