Patricia Metzger

Patricia A. Metzger, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, while surrounded by her family.

Born in Highland Park, Michigan, she was one of three children born to the late Emile and Alice (Bourassa) Gaudreau. First and foremost, Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia and a social member of the New Philadelphia VFW. Pat loved watching and listening to live music, especially when her husband and her sons were performing. She was a talented seamstress, baker, and cook. Pat always enjoyed hosting friends & family for a delicious meal and a competitive game of cards. She was always willing to help (and feed) anyone and everyone.

Patricia is survived by her husband, David C. Metzger, with whom she would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary later this month. Also surviving are her three sons, Steve Metzger and his fiancée Beverly McDonald of New Philadelphia, Kenny Metzger and his wife Julie Harriman of Dover, and David Metzger II and his wife Courtney of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Tori Metzger (Ryan Rowland), Daniel Metzger (Joce Toole), Brittney Metzger, Miles Metzger, Coral Contini (Cory Grasselli), Lilac Metzger, Wyatte Watson and four great grandchildren, Tyson, Atlas, Iris, and Nico.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her son Joseph Metzger, her sister Nancy Blackwell, and her brother George Gaudreau.

In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a private family graveside service will be held with Father Jeff Coning officiating.
