Patricia Ellen Matlick, 77, of Barnhill, died suddenly on Monday, April 24, 2017 at her home following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Daniel and Pauline (Swinderman) Mazzy, Pat was born March 13, 1940 in her childhood home at Midvale, Ohio.
She graduated from Midvale High School in 1958 where she was a cheerleader for the state tournament basketball team and was also a member of the track team. She was also well known as the vending hostess at Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus.
Pat was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. On May 30, 1959, she married Lyle Matlick and together they raised three children, Shelly, Jeff and Greg. She always made it a priority to attend their school and athletic events. Patricia also cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special friend, Lena Young.
Her surviving family includes her husband of 58 years, Lyle Matlick; her children, Shelly (Ronald) Stahl of New Philadelphia, Jeff (Jackie) Matlick of Dennison and Greg (Connie) Matlick of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Ciara (Nicholas) Harshey, Huston (Olivia Botkin) Stahl, Maria (Steve) Haberman, Brandon Matlick and Cory, Tricia and Morgan Matlick and her great-grandchildren, Nolan and Nico Harshey and Grace Haberman; her sister, Diane (Randy) Longacher of Dover and a nephew, Scott (Cindy) McCartney and their daughters, Jordan and Maddison.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and again one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. A funeral service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Donald Rice, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will be held on the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia following the committal service.
