Owen Miskimen, age 38, of Lodi, New Jersey, and a native of New Philadelphia died unexpectedly Monday as the result of a swimming accident. Born at Dover, December 19, 1969, he was a son of Gale C. Miskimen of Paupa, New Guinea, and his parents David and Dianna Miskimen of Carroll County . Owen was a 1988 graduate of New Philadelphia, and has resided on the east coast for most of the last two decades. He was affiliated with Lord & Taylor on Fifth Avenue in New York City, in retail sales and information technology management. “O” will be remembered for his keen wit, coupled with an endearing personality, and his passion for helping others look their best. In addition to his parents, Owen is survived by a family that includes his paternal grandparents; David and Peg Miskimen of Dover, his maternal grandmother, Linda Cole of Cincinnati, two brothers; Eliot J (wife Helen) Miskimen and Jason D. Miskimen, all of Tampa, Florida, a step-brother; Dusty (wife Krista) Kinsey of New Philadelphia, and a step-sister; Lisa (husband John) Shemenski of Cincinnati, an aunt; Dianne (husband Jerry) Ackerman of Dover, and a step-grandmother; Thelma Ayers of Strasburg. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members complete the family. Owen is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Willard Cole, Sr. Visitation and graveside services in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery will be private.
