Opal V. Trapp, 85, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Monday, January 28, 2003 in Dover. Opal was born on her family’s farm near Sugarcreek on October 30, 1917 to the late Chris and Christina Ley Lorenz. She attended school at Ragersville and on October 21, 1945 she married Roy C. Trapp who preceded her in death in 1974. A wonderful cook, Opal enjoyed living on the farm and caring for her animals. During the 1950’s, she worked for a time for Alsco Anaconda at Sugarcreek. Opal is survived by two sisters, Bertha Wright of Dover and Beulah (Ben) Hamlin of New Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews, including Glen and Ruby Masters of Fresno who tended to her needs in recent years. In addition to her parents and husband, three brothers and three sisters preceded Opal in death. Calling hours will be in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, where the funeral will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM. Rev. Michael E. Walters will officiate and burial will take place alongside her husband at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
