Oda E. Schon

Oda E. Schon, age 83, formerly of Beach City, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 11, 2009 in Akron City Hospital at Akron.Born July 15, 1925 in Russelton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ann Davis McCahill.Oda attended Wainwright School and later graduated from Tuscarawas High School in 1942. She married her late husband, John A. Schon on November 17, 1951. Together, they celebrated 42 years of marriage before his passing in 1994.After completing her formal education, Oda spent 5 years working at Western Union Company. She also worked for the Beach City Banking Company. However, her passion was being a homemaker, wife, and mother. Oda reared two sons, John (wife, Elaine) Schon of Akron and the late Dennis Schon who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also blessed with two grandchildren, Andrew and Kristen Schon, both of Akron.In addition to her parents, husband and son, Oda was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis McCahill and her sister, Thelma McCahill Mason.In keeping with Oda’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and she will be laid to rest along side John in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church at Beach City with Rev. David Craig officiating.
