N. Maxine (Zimmerly) Wigert, 86, a lifelong resident of Stone Creek, passed away peacefully in the Hospice House on Wednesday evening, January 2, 2012.
Born in New Philadelphia, Maxine was the daughter of the late Alfred and Zerna (Walters) Zimmerly. After graduating from Stone Creek High School, Maxine worked for Dr. Clyde Crawford for 21 years.
She then became an employee of New Philadelphia Schools were she drove school bus for 29 years. She loved driving the bus and was especially attentive to the summer transportation needs of the Stone Creek children, driving them to and from the YMCA.
Maxine was a lifelong and committed member of her church, Grace Community Church. There, she participated in a variety of activities.
Her devoted and loving family was of utmost importance to her. She loved driving the bus to take her grandchildren and their teammates to sporting events.
Many will remember Maxine outside of her house mowing her yard and enjoying her dogs.
She will be deeply missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Gina Wigert of Stone Creek; her grandchildren, Angela (Eric) Davis of Kentucky, Tiffany (Jeremiah) Kail of Stone Creek, Chelsie Wigert of Dover, and Travis Wigert of Stone Creek; her great-grandchildren, James, Benjamin, Kymber, and Kylie Davis, Gavin and Garrett Kail, and Keaton Garner; and her siblings, Phyllis (Jerry) Griesen of Stone Creek, Gene (Ruth Joyce) Zimmerly of New Philadelphia, Jim Zimmerly of New Philadelphia, and Connie (Ken) Hughey of New Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Brokaw and Walter Zimmerly.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with a service beginning at 10:30. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
Following the committal service, friends are invited to Grace Community Church where a meal will be served by Maxine’s church family.
