Norman Wesley Sayre

Norman Wesley Sayre, age 84, of Country Club Retirement Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 following a period of declining health.

A son of the late John and Edith (Vaughn) Sayre, Norman was born on October 6, 1930 at East Liverpool, Ohio.

He attended East Liverpool High School and prior to relocating to the Tuscarawas Valley served as the Assistant Manager of Olsen’s Department Store at East Liverpool. Upon his move to New Philadelphia, Norman served as the manager at Daniel’s Dress Shop, the L&K Restaurant and ultimately retired from Marsh Chalkboard.

Norman was a member of the Dover Church of Christ and enjoyed serving as a volunteer for Community Hospice and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. He was passionate about golfing, camping, and fishing, vacationing at Myrtle Beach and taking cruises.

Norman is survived by his children, Steven W. (Karen) Sayre of Georgia, Randy Sayre of New Philadelphia, and Michelle Milliken of Richmond, Ohio; five grandchildren, Thad, Travis, Randi, Alisa, and Kelli; and three great-grandchildren, Nolan, Noah, and Nathan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Sayre; a son, David Sayre and a grandson, Brendan.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with Pastor Randy Chapman Leading a service celebrating Norman’s life at 4PM. In keeping with Norman’s wishes, cremation will follow with private burial at a later date.
