Norman Lee Glazer, 91, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Monday, February 05, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover.A son of the late John and Georgia (Tedrick) Glazer, Norman was born March 12, 1915 at Dover, Ohio.Norman was a 1933 graduate of Port Washington High School and then graduated from Business School at Canton, Ohio. Then on August 20, 1939, he married the love of his life, the former Helen Stucky, with whom he raised two sons, John and Gary.He retired from Prudential Insurance Company where he worked as an insurance agent for over 20 years. Prior to that, he was employed by the Farm Bureau Co-Operative.Norman was a member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia where he served in many different capacities. He was a former Sunday School teacher, an Elder and Deacon, just to name a few. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he attained the honor of being a 32nd Degree Mason and he also received the Knight York Cross of Honor. Norman also served as a New Philadelphia Rotarian and was also a former committeeman for the Boy Scouts.But of all of the achievements and honors he gained throughout his lifetime, Norman’s family will remember him as a man of great integrity and honesty who held himself to the highest level of morals.He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Glazer; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sue Glazer of New Philadelphia and Gary and Sandra Glazer of Tallmadge, Ohio; grandchildren, Bill Glazer, David (Cindy) Glazer, Holly (Jason) Schafer, Brad (Heather) Glazer and Carie (Stephen) Casey; great grandchildren, Ashley, Brian, Joshua, Leah and Jacob Glazer; one sister, Bertha Butcher and many nieces and nephews.Norman was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Russell Glazer.Family and friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, February 9, 2007 from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service celebrating Norman’s life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick Oaks, who is a dear family friend, officiating. Immediately following the service at the funeral home, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia. Burial will then be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in Jerusalem Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made in Norman’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
