Norman B. Johnson, 91, of New Philadelphia went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 after a brief illness.
A son of the late Sheldon C. Johnson and Jewell F. (Olinger) Johnson, Norman was born February 5, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio.
Norman attended Dennison High School until he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Seabee. In 1950 he began to own and operate, “Johnson Printing” where he proudly worked for 34 years. He was an active member of the First Church of God in New Philadelphia, Ohio and was glad to share his faith. In his retirement he enjoyed golf, bowling and the Detroit Tigers. His biggest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.
Norman is survived by his wife, Kim A. (Rice) Johnson, whom he married November 21, 1993; six children, Eric (Susan) Johnson, Gary Johnson, Timothy (Dana) Johnson, Kevin (Toni) Johnson, Kathleen (Dan) Hunka, and Susan (Mike) Hinton; a step-daughter, Shelly (Mark) Martin; eleven grandchildren, Sarah, Jason (Kim), Brian (Cheri), Kyle (Brittany), and Kristopher (Lacey) Johnson, Megan (John Busch) Hunka, Allie, Cole, and Rachel Hinton, and Kaitlyn and Dylan Martin; five great-grandchildren, Sully, Lane, Aubrey, Mitchell, and Sophie Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Norman is preceded in death by his former wife, Mary C. (Warner) Johnson; a brother, James Johnson and a sister Bernice Bell.
Visitation with family will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 10 – 11AM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A memorial service will follow at 11AM with Pastors Rob Butler and Earl Miller officiating. A luncheon will be held in the funeral center’s hospitality room following the service.
