Norma L. Murphy

Norma L. Murphy, 88, of Dover, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 in Cleveland Clinic-Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in Milford, Massachusetts on October 5, 1935, Norma was one of two children born to the late Joseph and Lillian (Thibeault) Sessa. Norma was a loving wife and mother and cherished being a homemaker for her family.

Surviving are her two sons, Shawn (Karen) Murphy of Dover and Timothy Murphy of New Philadelphia; her daughter Mary (Richard) Bird of Dover; five granddaughters, Amanda Murphy, Alesha Murphy, Maggie Murphy, Kayla Murphy and Megan Murphy; three great grandchildren, Valicia, Jayden and Austin; and her faithful buddy and companion, Bruno.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Murphy; an infant daughter, Bonnie Murphy; her daughter, Julie Murphy; a granddaughter, Taylor Renee Bird; and her brother, Robert Sessa.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a private graveside will be held in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either Ronald McDonald House, 141 West State Street, Akron, Ohio 44302 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
