Norma Jean Wenger

Norma Jean Wenger, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Theodore and Emma (Arnold) Watson, Norma Jean was born February 23, 1928 at Dover, Ohio.

Norma Jean graduated from Dover High School in 1946 and during her younger years she was employed at Stein’s Grocery Store at Dover and East Sparta Ceramics. She was a member of Jerusalem Church where she was a volunteer for the kitchen committee she and enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Garbrandt of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Christopher Garbrandt of Dayton and Sarah Garbrandt of New Philadelphia; a sister, Dorothy Bartlett of Akron and a nephew, James (Lori) Booth of Arkansas.

In addition to her parents Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Jacob Wenger who passed away on January 21, 2012 and an infant son, Tommy Wenger.

In keeping with Norma Jean’s wishes there will be no public calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Dover Burial Park with Rev. Frank Sapp Jr. officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall in Jerusalem Church.
