Norma Jean Tylke

July 2, 1932 — November 14, 2013

Norma Jean Tylke, age 81, formerly of Dover died peacefully early Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Lawrence and Thelma (Espenschied) Newton, Norma was born at Dover on July 2, 1932.

She attended Dover High School and on January 15, 1949, Norma married Carl W. Tylke. Together the couple owned and operated Tylke’s Greenhouse and lovingly raised three children.

Norma had many great joys in life that included spending time with her family, cooking, canning and sewing. Additionally, Norma had a caring and compassionate personality in which she reached out to extended family who were in need and passionately cared for numerous individuals as a home healthcare aide.

An ever adventurous individual, Norma enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and participating in outdoor sports that included hunting, swimming and golfing.

She is survived by her family that includes a daughter, Regina “Fay” Kandel of Bolivar; two sons, Nelson (Sandy) Tylke of Massillon, Ohio and Roger (Karen) Tylke of Bolivar. She was also loved by her grandchildren, Traci Singree, A.J. Kandel, Tara (Jason) Lee, Stacey (Dan) Hayes, Shawna Tylke, Amber (Sam) Townsend, Travis Tylke, Brandon (Melissa) Tylke, and Andy Tylke; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Completing the family are two brothers Paul (Trudy) Newton of Canton and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Newton of Strasburg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Carl, who died on October 4, 2009; a sister, Coleen Contini and a brother, Walter Newton.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a brief candle service and time of sharing will conclude the visitation. Immediately following, all are invited to share in a time of continued fellowship by gathering for a light dinner in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Funeral Center. Private inurnment, alongside her husband, will take place in the Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
