Norma Jean “Gee Gee” Specht, age 83 of Dover, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday, November 7, 2016 while in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Dominic and Margherita (Pace) Cugliari, Norma was born at Dover on December 22, 1932. She was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School at Dover and on June 7th, 1958, married Joe W. Specht.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active in the choir, the Christian Mother’s Club and the St. Joe’s Senior’s. For 30 years, Norma was a familiar face among the customers of Dover Hardware, where she was employed as a cashier.
Norma greatly enjoyed cooking Sunday Dinner for her family and was especially known for her spaghetti sauce and meatballs.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, Norma is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo (Maurice) Lundenberger of Bolivar; two sons, Matthew (Pamela Watkins) Specht, and Michael Specht all of Dover; three grandchildren, Jim (Shelby) Lundenberger of Bolivar, Nick Specht of Dover and Chelsea (Devin Sponseller) Specht of New Jersey; a brother, Frank “Chink” (Rosalie “Peggy”) Cugliari of Dover and a sister, Margaret “Margie” Helmick of Florida; a brother-in-law, Clare Blauch of Florida and a sister-in-law, Margaret DeBois Cugliari of Dover. Completing the family are numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna (John) Patacca, Theresa Blauch, Victoria (Peter) Alesiano, and Josephine “Joey” Cugliari; a brother, Herman “Rickets” Cugliari, and a brother-in-law, Dan Helmick.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a Christian Wake Service will begin at 6:45 PM. Fr. Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover. All are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center following services.
