Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith (Rowan) 81, of Goodrich, Michigan and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away February 15, 2014 after a short illness.

A daughter of the late Ralph and Minnie (Penrod) Rowan, Norma was born August 24, 1932 at Midvale, Ohio.

Norma was a long standing member of the Midvale United Methodist Church. She loved writing and often wrote poems for her grandchildren, and loved playing with her great granddaughter, Natalie.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dwane H. Smith Jr., and she has left behind her three sons, Danny (Goodrich, MI), Thomas (and Marie, Goodrich, MI), Ralph (Sue, Linden, MI), her four grandchildren, Alicia, Emily, Ashley, and Angela, and great grand-daughter, Natalie.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Midvale United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the church with Pastor Lyle Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at the church following the committal service.
