Norma Jean Koppes

May 26, 1937 — August 20, 2013

Norma Jean Koppes, 76, of Uhrichsville has finally entered into her heavenly reward and is now walking hand in hand with Jesus. Norma passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

A daughter of Kathryn (Reed) Krantz of New Philadelphia and the late Harley Krantz, Norma was born May 26, 1937 at Strasburg, Ohio. She was a woman of great faith and was a longtime member of Rush Community Nazarene Church.

Norma had a love for traveling and even more so when accompanied by her family. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for making candy. Most of all she will be remembered for her precious smile and for her ability to share that smile through her recent illness.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Koppes whom she married on April 5, 1989; her children, Kathy Shaver of New Philadelphia, Sharon (Leroy) Chambers of Dennison; Rhonda (Mark) Davis of New Philadelphia, Melanie (Lee) Kohli of Winesburg and Bill (Jackie) Sterling of Dennison; her step-children, Karl Koppes of Akron, Charles (Tami) Koppes of Midvale and Susan (Randy) Koppes Yoder of Winesburg; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Anna) Shaver of Dennison, Barry (Jennifer) Chambers of Cincinnati, Amanda Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas, Keith (Melissa) Chambers of Downington, Pennsylvania; Carly (Jeff) Positano of New Philadelphia, Tyler (Lorna) Waters of Dover, Crystal (Keith) McClintock of Wooster, Candace Kohli of Chicago, Illinois, Dylan Sterling of Dennison, Derrick Koppes of Akron, Kurtis (Lauryn) Koppes of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Zachary Koppes of Purcellville, Virginia and Christian Yoder of Winesburg and her great grandchildren, Mackena, Brennan, Angelina, Janelle, Macey, Madelynn, Juliana, Riley, Emma, Noah and Landon.

Norma was preceded in death by her father and a granddaughter, Eva Marie Yoder.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Rush Community Nazarene Church. A funeral service celebrating Norma’s life will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Brett Warkentine officiating. Burial will follow in Rush Cemetery. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at the church.
