Norma Jean Kohler, 72, of Tuscarawas, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover following an extended illness.Born April 4, 1930, in Wainwright, she was the daughter of the late George and Annie Carlisle Briggs. Norma was a former member of the Reorganized Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New Philadelphia. She was a homemaker and grandmother, and she also loved crocheting. Surviving is two daughters, Norma (Harold) White of New Philadelphia and Roberta (Bill) Carswell of Tuscarawas; son, Kenneth (Susan) Kohler of Tuscarawas; sister, Georgia (George) Briggs of Wainwright; three brothers, Robert (Wilma) Briggs of Wainwright, Jerry (Rita) Briggs of Mentor on the Lake, Jerry (Kathy) Grove of Tuscarawas; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Kohler, who died in 1978; and a brother, George Howard Briggs.Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2002, at 11 AM, at Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. A meal and a gathering of family and friends will follow the service in the Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 13, from 5-8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia.
