Norma G. Briggs

Norma G. Briggs, 92, passed away, Monday, November 7, 2016 in Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia.

A daughter of the late Lewis and Zora (Montgomery) Smith, Norma was born September 26, 1924 at Glenwillow, Ohio.

Norma was a member of First Baptist Church since 1955 where she sang in the church choir. She also enjoyed traveling with her sisters, reading books, tending to her flowers and feeding birds.

Norma is survived by her three children, Carol (Dale) Boone, Larry Briggs and Gary (Bobbi) Briggs; five grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Alander, Michael (Christine) Alander, Amy Herold, Megan Briggs and Jason Briggs; eight great grandchildren, Heidi, Isaac, Michael, Ashley, Derek, Emily, Timothy, Austin and Jastyn; a brother, Roy Smith and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Willard Briggs, whom she married on June 2, 1946; a son, Nelson Briggs; two sisters, Edith Plummer and Guyda Newton, and a brother, Troy Smith.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 1 to 2pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Norma’s life will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home’s chapel with Todd Gopp officiating. Burial will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery.
