Nora E. “Libby” Gibson, 93, a native of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia following a six-month illness.
Born in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Nina Martin Findley. Libby was a 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and also a 1947 graduate of Muskingum College and had formerly been employed by the Ohio Power Company in Zanesville, Ohio as a Home Economist. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia since 1948, having served as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Moderator of Presbyterian Women. Libby was also a member of College Club of Tuscarawas County, New Philadelphia Women’s Club and had formerly volunteered with Share-a-Christmas and Dress-a-Child.
In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Gibson. Surviving are a daughter, Betsy (Jim) Pringle of Dover; a son, Charles F. (Valerie) Gibson of Wooster; six grandchildren, Matthew (Tatjana) Berens, Alison Berens, Aaron (Jen) Gibson, Sarah (Brent) Nieuwenhuis, Daniel (Rachel) Gibson, Laura Gibson, Josh Pringle and Seth (Tara) Pringle; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 12 noon in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Rev. Greg Linville officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 AM to 12 noon in the funeral home.
It was Libby’s wish that memorial contributions be made to either the First Presbyterian Church, 217 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd. NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, or Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
