Nina Leota King

Nina Leota King, 96, of New Philadelphia, died early Monday morning, September 15, 2003 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a fall in her home on Friday morning, September 12, 2003.Nina was born on March 28, 1907 in Jericho, Ohio, the only daughter to the late Samuel E. and Mary L. Hill Cline. On July 4, 1925, she married Forrest J. King in Antioch, Ohio. Forrest worked for the East Ohio Gas Company and, at the time of his death on September 2, 1962, was a field supervisor.She was long-time member of the First Christian Church. Since 1943, Nina gave her time and energy to helping the Red Cross. In 1965 she started volunteering at Union Hospital with the “Grey Ladies”. She enjoyed this work until retiring in 2002 after having given 23, 000 hours of service to the hospital and its patients. Additionally, Nina was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.When not serving at the hospital, Nina enjoyed motor home traveling with her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she made her home.Besides her parents and husband, Nina was preceded in death by her son, LaVerne W. King, her brother, Forrest Cline, great-granddaughter, Stacy Kail, son-in-law, Scott Ward, and two sisters-in-law, Garrnet Cline and Mary June Cline.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Jay Peterson; eight grandchildren, Leslie (Harry) Humphries, Marcia (Joe) Lukens, Lori (Larry) Williams, Kara Hawthorne, Brent Sheeley, Deb (Gary) Troyer, Peggy (Jim) Bardall, and Wendy McCoy, nine great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou King of Dover, sister-in-law, Mildred Ferrell of Marietta, OH, and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, 2003, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 with Rev. Harold Davis officiating. Burial alongside her husband will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. After the cemetery committal, a meal will be shared in the fellowship hall of the First Christian Church of Uhrichsville, corner of Second and Uhrich streets.Her family has requested that instead of flowers contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, P.
