Nichole M. Meese, age 40 of New Philadelphia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2014 while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.
Born on March 14, 1974 at Dover, Ohio, Nicci, as she was known to family and friends, is a daughter of A. Louis (Tammy) Vaca of Houston, Texas and Sheila Ault (Frederick) Davis of Wainwright.
A 1993, graduate of Indian Valley High School, Nicci, was a member of Fry’s Valley Moravian Church, where she was actively involved with Vacation Bible School for many years. She also served as the leader and assistant of the Family Readiness Group for the 1485th Transportation Unit.
She devoted her life to caring for her family and enjoyed spending time with the love of her life, Greg, whom she married on June 29, 2002, her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, baking, and scrapbooking. Most importantly, she loved being involved in the lives of her children and taking an active role in their activities. In addition to her duties as a mother and wife, Nicci remained a devoted, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
For the past 5 years, Nicci has fought a courageous battle with breast cancer. She never lost the smile that lit up a room and became an inspiration to all she encountered or heard her story. She worked hard to prepare others of her passing and knew there was work to be done so her legacy and memory would remain. She had a selfless and giving heart and taught not only her own family, but countless others, the value of living as if there were no tomorrow, as we are only promised today.
She will forever be missed by her beloved family that includes her parents, husband, Greg; children, Alexis N. Stucin of Canton, Edie M. Meese and Vincent M. Meese of the home; two grandsons, Xavior L. and Trenton N. Stucin of New Philadelphia; a brother, Matthew L. Vaca of Mansfield, Ohio; a sister, Crystal L. (Paul Gibson) Vaca of Katy, Texas; two half-brothers, Timothy (Chrissy) Vaca of Katy, Texas and Jeremiah Vaca of Houston, Texas and grandparents, Charles and Elsie Ault of Gnadenhutten.
Completing the family are a sister-in-law, Tina Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother-in-law, Bruce Smith of Phoenix, Arizona; Greg’s parents, David and Ruth Meese of Goshen and John and Mary Ann Smith of Dover; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nicci was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edith and Adolph Vaca, Joseph and Jean Davis; two uncles, John D. Ault and Allan Davis, and her best friend Jennifer Paulun.
The family will receive guest on Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Christine Johnson will lead a celebration of Nicci’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10:30 AM.
