Nicholas Ryan Beachy, a loving father and son, talented musician, and friend to all, passed away suddenly on February 20, 2015.
Born in Dover, Ohio on May 26, 1989, Nick was the son of Pamela J. (Marlatt) and Cyril Leyda of New Philadelphia and Mark N. Beachy of Sugarcreek.
As a young boy, Nick quickly showed an interest in music. From playing the piano, to teaching himself to play the guitar, music was in his soul. During his high school career at Dover, he played the violin in the orchestra and was a member of the band, Hard Drive, where he played guitar.
After graduation, Nick furthered his education at both Stark State and Kent State Tuscarawas Campus.
Nick was a very hard worker, who put all of his efforts into whatever task was before him. He was employed at Dutch Valley Restaurant beginning in high school, and then continued working for Country Lawn Nursing Home and Community Hospice as an aide. At those care facilities, Nick always devoted his attention to the residents, providing the best care he could offer. He then enjoyed employment at Bob Evans where he was a cook. In 2014, Nick was hired by Minnesota Limited where he served as an office administrator with the pipeline industry.
Most importantly, Nick was a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Layla, or as he called her “Sissy”. He loved spending every moment he could with her, whether they were making crafts, cooking, or just playing together. She meant the world to Nick.
His contagious laugh and smile that could change the entire mood of a room, will forever be remembered. Nick’s selflessness, devotion to his family and friends, and desire to care for and support his daughter are legacies he leaves behind.
Nick was cherished by his family including his parents, Pamela (Cyril) Leyda of New Philadelphia and Mark N. Beachy of Sugarcreek; his daughter, Layla Beachy and her mom, Stacy Burgess; his siblings, Kristina (Aaron) Kuntzman of Dover; his brother, Richard Beachy; his niece, Lily Beachy and her mom, Megan Edwards; his nephew, Greyson Kuntzman; his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Marlatt of Newcomerstown; his step-grandparents, Richard and Margaret Leyda of Dennison; and his aunts and uncles, Bill (Leeann) Couts of Mt. Vernon, Derek (Darla) Leyda of New Philadelphia, Jonas (Carolyn) Beachy of Florida, Merle (Cindy) Beachy of Sugarcreek, Susie and Wilma Beachy, both of Sugarcreek, and Marie (David) Miller of Fredericksburg; along with numerous cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Noah and Katie Beachy; his maternal grandfather, Joseph Marlatt; his aunt, Lori Couts, and his uncle, Junior Beachy.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover Monday, February 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Nick’s life will be held in the funeral home Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park.
Friends are invited to the hospitality room at the Geib Funeral Center for a meal following the committal service.
