Nicholas John “Nick” Kunzi, 37, of Los Angeles, California died October 20, 2023.
Born in Columbus on March 9, 1986, he was the son of Elaine (Van Natter) Kunzi and E. John Kunzi.
After graduating from Worthington-Kilbourne High School, he continued his education at The Ohio State University, where he studied history, visual art, anthropology and archeology.
Nick was a community activist, a gifted pianist, and a skilled athlete. He played football, swam and dove on many leagues, played baseball for 7 years, was a soccer player, and was a letterman with the water polo team. He also worked as a lifeguard and managed pools. In high school, Nick participated in the men’s choir at Worthington, was a Socratic Society honoree, and was an honor roll recipient. Nick also achieved life scout status, order of the arrow, and was awarded more than 30 merit badges. Nick was also a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, attending 4 years of seminary at the church prior to school each day.
In addition to his parents, Nick will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his siblings, Heidi Kunzi, Heather (Dustin) Black, Anna (fiance, Matt Habermehl) Kunzi; 4 nephews and 2 nieces; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A service celebrating Nick’s life will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park.
