Neva Tidrick, 80, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, December 4, 2018, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in Dayton, Ohio on May 29, 1938, Neva was a daughter of the late Ralph and Edna (Tirey) Shewmon and a graduate of Patterson Co-Op.
Neva loved her family. She greatly enjoyed having them around for the holiday season and always made sure her house was perfectly decorated for the occasion. Around Christmas time, she spent a great deal of time baking cookies, making hard-tac candy and chocolates.
Those who knew Neva best were well aware of her love for keeping her finger nails perfectly manicured and staying up on the latest Vera Bradley fashion with her purses. She cherished personal notes and cards and kept nearly all of them through the years as mementos. As much as she enjoyed receiving cards, Neva took time to send cards to friends and family and kept a well-supplied stock in her desk.
Neva will be missed by her husband, Robert Tidrick, whom she married on Christmas Eve, 1991; her children, Amy (Jim) Hendershot of New Philadelphia, Mark (Loretta) Robbins of Mineral City, Cheryl (Wade) Spivey of Gray, Georgia, and Matt (Karina) Robbins of Stone Creek; her step-children, Bobbi (Gary) Briggs of Canton, Shari (Frank) Bugaj of Haddam, Connecticut and Ginger (Kelly) Canfield of Sugarcreek; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Completing the family are her siblings, Kenneth (Laura) Shewmon, Mary (Ed) Fox, and Martha (Charlie) Wibbenmeyer and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Neva was preceded in death by her first husband, Royal Ervin Robbins.
The family will greet guests on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 4-7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Neva’s son, Rev. Mark Robbins will lead a service celebrating her life in the Dover Geib Center on Saturday, December 15 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following Services all are invited to return to the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center for a time of food and fellowship.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of the nurses, aides and therapists at New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover for loving care of Neva.
Memorial contributions in Neva’s name may be directed to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Uniontown, OH 44685.
