Nettie Jean Schrader, age 83, of Dover, entered her heavenly reward from her home early Monday evening, December 1, 2008. Born at Dennison Ohio, December 23, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Odessa Lemasters Kinsey. Nettie grew up in the Roxford Church area, attending school at Midvale before graduating from Dennison with the class of 1943. During World War II, Nettie, like many ladies at the time, worked in Republic Steel at Canton while many of the men were called to arms. While commuting to Canton, Nettie came to know her future husband, Victor Schrader. The couple wed October 18, 1945, and this past autumn, observed their sixty-third wedding anniversary. A homemaker for most of her life, Nettie did work for twenty-three years as an admissions supervisor at Union Hospital. For the past fifty-six years, Nettie and her family have been faithful members of Broadway United Methodist Church, where, she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, and chaired the kitchen committee for many years. Nettie’s pies were legendary â?? and it wasn’t beyond her to prepare pies by the dozen for church picnics and family gatherings. Her favorite pastimes included luncheons with her former co-workers from Union Hospital, and her classmates from school. Together with her husband, Nettie traveled to forty-eight of the fifty United States. Trips to southern states to visit family and spoil her grandchildren were made with regularity. In addition to husband of sixty-three years, Nettie is survived by three daughters; Sandra K. Schrader of New Philadelphia, Carol (husband David) Beyer of Sugar Hill, Georgia, and Vicki (husband Dennis) Smith of Evans, Georgia. She’ll be sadly missed by five grandchildren; Kevin (wife Evette) Walter of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Julie (husband Rob) Durando of Edgewater, Florida, Erik Walter of Cooper City, Florida, Carri (husband Roy) Connell of Evans, Georgia, and Kelly (husband Kyle) Bentley of Grovetown, Georgia. Nine great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren complete the family. Nettie is preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Glen Kinsey. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 â?? 11 in Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. The Rev.’s Bill Sowers and Bob Mathias will lead a memorial service for Mrs. Schrader Saturday morning at 11 in the church sanctuary. A reception for family and friends will be served in the church fellowship hall at the conclusion of the memorial service. In gratitude for their exemplary care, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street Dover OH 44622, or to the Broadway United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 120 Church Street SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.Linn-Hert-Geib(330) 343-5506www.geibcares.com
