Nancy Kinsey Masters, age 82, of Farragut, TN, and formerly of Bowerston, OH, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, November 29, 2012.
Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
From humble beginnings, Nancy walked every day to school for miles. She was educated in the one room school house, Elm Grove School at Station 15, Ohio, until the 8th grade. Nancy was a graduate of Bowerston High School, where she was a cheerleader and met and cheered for her future husband, Bill, an athlete. She waited two long years while he served in World War II and they were married in the summer of 1947.
During her married life, they moved many times with Bill’s career. Each time she would start anew to build a home for her growing family. Nancy never grew tired of starting over and gave her all to each move. Beginning in Alliance and Carrollton, OH, then West Winfield, York, and Hamburg, NY, along with Mercer, PA before enjoying the last 22 years in Knoxville, TN. In each new community, she gathered friends like petals of a flower gather sunshine and while the sun sets, these friendships never end. Her last day on this earth was filled with a procession of many of these bright rays of sunshine.
Nancy was an award winning artist who filled her homes with original paintings and artwork. Her greatest joy was nurturing her family, so Bill and Nancy brought their family together each summer at the beach in Nagshead, NC for the past 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin L. and Hazel Dewitt Kinsey and sisters, Greta Kinsey, Janet Kinsey Thayer and Lila Kinsey Masters.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William E. Masters (Bill); son and daughter in law, Jeff and Mary Kay Masters of Rochester NY; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Michael Leonard of Richmond, VA, Becky and Tim Gool of Syracuse NY, and Melissa and Mark Nelson of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Michael Leonard, Erin Dickenson (Hunter), Patrick Leonard (Angela), Suzanne Masters, Allison Foley (Sean), Kyle Masters, Jeremy Gool, Elizabeth Gool, Clayton Nelson and Kinsey Nelson; great-grandchildren, Connor, Caleb and Hudson and one in the wings: siblings and spouses, Larry and Linda Kinsey of Sherrodsville, OH and Sally and Marcus Gaan of Sun Lakes AZ.
Special appreciation to all the dear Christian friends and neighbors that loved Nancy throughout her life.
