Murl R. Hill, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at Schoenbrunn Health Care in New Philadelphia.A son of the late William and Ettie Mae (Shipman) Hill, Murl was born May 8, 1919 in Athens, Ohio.He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in Germany.After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Murl took up residence in Canton, Ohio. Then in 1975, he moved to Tuscarawas, Ohio.He was employed as a truck driver for Garaux Brothers Construction Company for 33 years before finally retiring from Beaver Excavating Company.Murl was a life member of the Tuscarawas VFW Post #7943.He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Arlene (Bucher) Hill; two children, William (Elaine) Hill of Enon, Ohio and Millie Anderson of Enon, Ohio; one step-daughter, Charl (John) Ervin of Tuscarawas, Ohio; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.Murl was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Clifford, Denzil, Delbert, Gearld and Arlis Hill.In keeping with Murl’s wishes, cremation was conducted by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in Evergreen Burial Park with Rev. Hugh B. Berry officiating where the Tuscarawas VFW Post #7943 will perform military honors.Memorial contributions may be made in Murl’s name to Colonial Manor, 441 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia, OH.
