Morris Neville Beamer, age 94, of New Philadelphia, and formerly of Baltic, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Union Hospital at Dover.A son of the late Morris and Sarrah M. Fry Beamer, Morris was born on July 9, 1913, at Sherrodsville, Ohio.Morris attended Canton McKinley High School where he played football. Later, Morris served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.An active participant in many activities of the Baltic American Legion, Morris met and fell in love with his future bride, the former Madge Harbourt Fritz and together the couple have celebrated nearly fifty years of marriage.Together, the couple owned and operated the Dairy Treat at Baltic for more than 15 years. Following Legion meetings, Morris could often be found at the poker table as he often engaged in a game of cards or as he often referred to it as “Takin’ the boy’s quarters”.Mr. Beamer also loved to read western fiction novels written by one of the world’s most popular writers, Mr. Louis L’Amour.In addition to his loving wife, Morris leaves behind two sons; Michael N. Beamer and his wife Doris of Pinebluff, North Carolina, Robert W. Fritz and his wife Glenda of Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Panella, and her husband John of Huntley, Illinois, and Bonnie Pepper and her husband Myron Jr. of Baltic. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren complete the family.As the last surviving sibling of his family, Morris was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Gislason; and two brothers, Lisle Beamer and Robert L. Beamer.In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Beamer has been cremated.
