Monte Thomas Freshwater, Sr., age 68, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, May 22, 2011, doing what he loved best, riding his motorcycle.Born in Union Hospital at Dover, on January 13, 1943, Monte was a son of the late William Freshwater and Elizabeth James Freshwater-Shull. He was a 1961 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was employed by Paramont Machine Company at New Philadelphia for 30 years where he worked as a machinist. Following his retirement, Monte enjoyed returning to his work at Paramont where he was currently working part-time.Monte was an avid gun collector who enjoyed target shooting. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at area establishments and particularly enjoyed patronizing Treva’s Roundup at Dover. Additionally, he was a car enthusiast who enjoyed caring for the numerous vehicles he had owned throughout the years. While Monte was also a lover of motorcycles and had owned numerous makes and models and was never more happy and proud to be the owner of his of his current bike, his beloved Harley Davidson.Monte is survived by his family which includes a son, Monte (Shonette) Freshwater, Jr. of Mineral City; a daughter, Kelly Cox of Dover; a step-daughter, Teela Wilson Fisher of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Monte Freshwater, III and Nicole Busby of Dover; two step-grandchildren, Brinnlee and Alivia and his best friend, Connie Johnson of Bolivar.In keeping with Monte’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Friends are encouraged to keep his spirit alive by sharing a beverage in his memory. Cremation will be cared will be conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
