Mona L. Ryan, 94, of Dover, passed away in the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital on May 25, 2024 following a sudden illness.
Born in Dover on April 7, 1930, Mona was the daughter of the late Wallace A. and Agnes (Cross) Schoelles.
After graduating from Dover High School in 1948, she married the love of her life, the late Rober K. “Hank” Ryan on August 16, 1953. Together, they were blessed with 65 years of marriage prior to his passing on November 3, 2018.
Mona was the matriarch of the family and a proud homemaker to her husband and four children. She greatly enjoyed hosting every holiday and birthday at their home. Mona rarely missed one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren’s sporting events or other activities. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, a bowler for numerous years, Hallmark television watcher, and gamer at casinos. Mona and Hank loved to fish together and she was often found playing cards with friends and family.
She will be deeply missed by her family including her children, Jeff (Norma) Ryan of Dover, Kim (Steve) Badertscher of Marion, Diana (Steve) Scherer and Shelly (Tim) Fisher, all of Dover; her grandchildren, Dana (Jeremiah) Basiletti of Dover, Kristina (Andrew) Casida of Dover, T.J. Badertscher of Marion, Second Lieutenant Ryan Badertscher stationed in Hawaii, Amanda Smithey of Delaware, and Austin Fisher of Dover; great-grandchildren, Camryn Basiletti, Christian and Coleson Basiletti, Hudson and Juliette Casida, Crosby Badertscher, and Liam Smithey. Additionally, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Lesley Shope, Creston (Judy) Summers, Cheryl (Richard) Keeler, Joy Pusti, Nicole Long, Colton Shope and Collin Shope; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Mona was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria (Jack) Summers; and nephew, Brad Summers.
A graveside service will be held in Dover Burial Park on Wednesday, Mary 29, 2024 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Bonnie Grimaldi officiating.
