Mona M. Harrop, 62, of New Philadelphia died peacefully in the company of her family early Saturday morning, November 27, 2004. Born in Zanesville, O. July 25, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Marie Cooper Flowers. Mona met her future husband in high school and graduated from Zanesville High School in 1960.In August 1964, she married the late Edwin L. “Mr. Ed” Harrop, who after 22 years of marriage, preceded Mona in death on April 30, 1987. Mona was a caregiver her entire life. She delighted in the time she spent with her grandchildren, playing video games, and traveling to garage sales. Care giving was also a career for her as a State Tested Nurse Assistant. Until illness forced her retirement, she was affiliated with Park Village, and previously with both Hennis and New Dawn Care Centers. Mona leaves behind three children, daughters Karen (Randy) Wallick, Amanda (Rick) Martin, and a son, Jeff Harrop all of New Philadelphia. She’ll be sadly missed by granddaughters Courtney and Megan Wallick, a grandson Shane Harrop, a brother, Charles (Helen) Flowers of Zanesville, O. and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mona was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Paul formerly of Zanesville, O. and Wanda Bradley formerly of Lake Wales, FL.Friends are invited to call Monday November 29 from 4 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Mark Trotter will lead funeral services for Mrs. Harrop on Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The congregation of First Baptist Church will host a reception for family and friends in the Barn at the church campus on Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, following the committal service.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622 in recognition of their exemplary care.
