Mona L. Heaton

Mona L. Heaton, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the age of 97 in Warren, Ohio.

Born on April 24, 1927, in Minerva, Mona was the daughter of the late Maxwell and Florence (Schumacher) Haupert and lived a life full of love, laughter and dedicated service.

A graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School, Mona embraced her education and carried the values of hard work and determination throughout her life. She served as the Kitchen Manager at the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge for many years, where her culinary skills and warm spirit delighted countless people. 

Mona was a lifetime member of the Sharon Moravian Church at Tuscarawas, a place that held a special significance in her life. Her faith was unwavering, and she shared it generously with others. As a longtime member of her church choir, she embraced her love of music and singing, filling the hearts of her fellow congregants with joy through her beautiful voice. Music was not just a hobby for Mona; it was a passion that connected her deeply to her faith, her community, and her loved ones. 

She is survived by her daughter, Wynne (Tim) Eckhardt of Greenville, PA; three step-daughters, Paula Baker, Patricia Harris and Bev Rentsch; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mona was preceded in death by her daughter Lou Ann Wilson; her husband Paul Heaton; a brother, Eugene Haupert and a step-son, Tom Kaiser.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 11 to 1 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where a service will begin at 1 PM with Pastor Ben Lippert officiating. A private burial will take place in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas.
