Minnie Mae Wenger

Minnie Mae Wenger, age 80, of Crooked Run, New Philadelphia, died peacefully New Years Day, in Union Hospital at Dover surrounded by her loving family. Born at Neffs in Belmont County, Ohio, on July 6, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Herman N. and Annabell Scott Pugh. On February 25, 1949, Minnie married Max. W. Wenger. The two would have celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage next month. Minnie was a devoted farmwife who loved her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Jerusalem Church. She was also a member of the Rejoice Ladies Fellowship, the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens, and the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau. She was fond of her life on the farm; she enjoyed caring for animals as if they were a part of her family. Together with her husband, Minnie enjoyed traveling across the Continental United States, to Alaska, and to Europe. Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter; Judy (John) Flinner of Dover, three sons; William (Valerie) Wenger, Fred (Linda) Wenger and Terry (Juanita) Wenger all of New Philadelphia. Minnie will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Andrea Flinner of Dover, Lucas, Vanessa, Joel, Erika, Courtney and Ethan Wenger all of New Philadelphia, two step grandchildren; Jessie (Ray) Owens of Uhrichsville, and Calvin (Jess) Funkhouser of Danville, Virginia, and two step great-grandchildren. A sister, Mildred McDonald of New Philadelphia completes the family. In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Pugh, who was killed in action while serving his country in the Air Force during World War II. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 5 until 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia, and one hour prior to services at the church. Dr. Terry Downin and the Rev. Larry Black will officiate funeral services Wednesday morning at 10:30 in Jerusalem Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. A reception will be given in the church fellowship hall following the committal service. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the building fund at Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
