Mildred Pearl Lorenz

March 28, 1915 — December 9, 2014

Mildred Pearl Lorenz, age 99, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 following a period of declining health.

Born at New Philadelphia on March 28, 1915, Mildred was a daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Winkler) Beitzel.

Mildred attended York School and on July 21, 1934, she married Frank Lorenz. Together the couple raised two daughters and shared in nearly 51 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 17, 1985.

A longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover, Mildred enjoyed her church family and passing the time by working on craft projects, scrapbooking, collecting various wares, attending garage sales and gardening. She was also known to have a keen sense of humor that brightened the day of all she encountered.

For many years prior to her retirement, Mildred worked for Union Hospital in the Housekeeping Department and also worked as a housekeeper for private residences.

She is survived by her daughter, Lavonne Troendly of New Philadelphia and two granddaughters, Bethany (husband, Christian Miller) Troendly of Dayton, Kentucky, and Pamela Troendly of Akron, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Lorenz; her son-in-law, Karl Troendly; her sister, Bertha Voshall and her brother, Gerald Beitzel.

A service celebrating Mildred’s life will be led by Pastor Dotty Hartzell on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with the family greeting guests one hour prior to the service. Burial in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery will follow. Following services, all are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home.

In gratitude for the care and compassion shown to Mildred during the past year, her family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Park Village Health Care Center.
