Mildred J. Mathias

Mildred J. Mathias, 92, of Dover, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord, July 12, 2015 in Park Village Nursing Home at Dover.

Born in Walkers Mills, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Walker) Fahner.

After graduating from high school, she married her late husband, Richard Dale Mathias, on July 12, 1941. Together, they were blessed with three children, Carolyn, Pat, and Robert.

Mildred worked at Bentes Dry Cleaning for 10 years. Her faith was nurtured at Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia where she was involved in numerous groups. She was also involved in quilting groups and enjoyed sewing and traveling too.

Mildred will be deeply missed by her children, Carolyn (James) Rabes of Dundee, Pat (Jerry) McDowell of Fond du Lac, WI, and Pastor Robert (Virginia) Mathias in Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Bryan (Becky) McDowell and Michael (Sarah) McDowell both of Fond du Lac, WI, Kimberly (Kevin) Propp of Milton, WI, James (Jan) Mathias of Chandler, AZ, and Bruce (Megan) Mathias of Pataskala, OH; 14 great-grandchildren; her step-grandson, Mathew Vogel; her brother, Robert Fahner of New Philadelphia; her nephew and niece, Jeff (Vickie) Fahner and Cheryl (Norman) Kadri, both of New Philadelphia; and her niece, Janet Mathias of New Philadelphia.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her brother, George Fahner.

A service celebrating Mildred’s life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. with her son, Pastor Bob Mathias officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
Memorial contributions in Mildred’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mildred’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Park Village Healthcare Center staff for providing such special care to their mother. They did a wonderful job and Mildred loved all who took care of her.
