Mildred F. Gopp, age 96, of Dover passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 in New Dawn Retirement Community following a period of declining health.Born in Millersburg, O. on February 24, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William Ervin and Catherine Hulddah Brandt Kaser.In 1932, Mildred graduated from the former Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School before marrying her late husband, Donald R. Gopp who preceded her in death on January 29, 1985.Mildred was a member of the Dover Bible Church. There, she greatly enjoyed participating in the music ministry as an accompanist on both the piano and organ. She passed along her love for music to her children and grandchildren too. Mildred loved supporting them in all of their musical endeavors. She also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and in her garden growing beautiful flowers.Cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians was a pastime of hers also. Mildred’s family includes her daughters, Margene McCune of Dover, and Dianne (Bob) Schilling of Canal Fulton; her son, Donald L. (Kay) Gopp of Dover; her brothers, Richard (Mary) and Lyle (Karen) Kaser, both of Sugarcreek; her grandchildren, Bonnie (Marvin) Croy, Rhonda (Barry) Jenkins, Scott (Kelly) McCune, Deborah (John) Bradshaw, Suzanne Clark, Brett Gopp, Jackie Hobbs, Bob (Lori) Schilling, Sherrie (Jim) Bishop, Maryanne Young, Kathy (Ralph) Clark, and Robert (Grace) Lauver; and her great-grandchildren, Tara Jenkins, Bobby Schilling, Sarah Schilling, Rachel Schilling, Holly Schilling, Tyler Schilling, Kaitlyn Hobbs, Diane Hobbs, Madeline Hobbs, Shannon Young, Amber Young, Dallas Clark, Alexandra Lauver, Daniel Bishop and Tyler Bishop.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Lauver; two brothers, Willis and Nolan Kaser; and her grandson, Jeff Schilling.Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 2 to 5 p.m. A service celebrating Mildred’s life will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 1, 2010 beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover. Friends are invited to the Geib Funeral Center in Dover where a meal will be shared following the committal service.Mildred greatly enjoyed her time at the New Dawn Retirement Community.
