Mike P. “Lucky Mike” Marino, age 94, of Dover, died Tuesday, June 05, 2012, in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.
Born at Weirton, West Virginia, on September 20, 1917, Mike was a son of the late Conchetta (Emmanuella) and William Marino.
Mike entered into the United States Army 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles during World War II where was stationed at Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
On November 26, 1953, Mike married the former Margaret A. Brisgal and together raised eight children and celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to her passing on May 21, 2011.
For 33 years Mike worked in the family business, the former Wilmar Furniture at Dover. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover and the Dover VFW.
Survivors include eight children; daughters Maureen (husband, Tim) Muldovan, of Dover, Barb Berndt of Bolivar, Nance (husband, Rannie) Cox of Navarre, Julie (husband, Ed) Moore of Millersburg, NC, Lisa (husband, Tim) Wolfe of Finley, OH, sons; Mark Marino of New Philadelphia, Jim (wife, Kathy) Marino Strongsville, OH, and Mike (wife, Shona) Marino of Dennison and a sister, Ann Monahan.
Nine grandchildren; Todd Contini , Jennifer Berndt, Joseph Berndt, Christopher Berndt, Vicki Berndt, Joshua Marino, Dalton Marino, Rebecca Wolfe, and Jessica Moore and 10 great-grandchildren complete the family.
In addition to his wife and parents Mike was preceded in death by three sisters; Mary Enni, Lucy Duck, and Augustina Cerpack and two brothers; William P. Marino Sr. and Jim Marino.
Friends are invited to call Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 4-7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, where Christian Wake Services will commence at 6:45 PM.
Father Robert Aubrey will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 8, 2012, at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover. Family and friends will gather at Geib Funeral Center for prayers and then procession to church at 10:15 AM. Following Mass, burial with military honors will be held in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover.
A luncheon reception held in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center will follow services.
Memorial contributions in Mike’s name may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to a Veteran’s charity of the donor’s choice.
