Michael Alan Johns

March 14, 1963 — September 6, 2009

Michael Alan Johns passed away in the quiet countryside near Brighton, Missouri. Although he will be sadly missed by his loved ones, his family is comforted by knowing that he is safe and at peace in Heaven with his father and other family members who preceded him in death. Best known as Mike to his family and friends, he was born at Dover, March 14, 1963 to Carolyn A. Steffe Johns of Tuscarawas and her late husband, Fred W. Johns. The Johns family relocated to Illinois in 1965 residing there until 1979 when Mike and his parents returned to reside in New Philadelphia. Mike served honorably in the United States Army and especially enjoyed his time in Germany. Throughout the years, Mike worked a variety of jobs and lived in Arizona, Nebraska, Missouri and Ohio. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Tuscarawas, include his daughter, Amber Ann and son Jesse Alan of Brighton, Missouri who meant the world to Mike; his highly admired brother, Kenneth W. (wife, Linda) Johns of Massillon; his niece Danielle L. Johns and her daughter, Cameron E. Cantwell of Bolivar, with whom he thoroughly enjoyed spending time; an uncle, Robert (wife, Virginia) Johns of Orrville; two step-nieces Bonnie (husband, Joe) Pape, Sandra Galligher and a step-nephew Bruce (wife, Lisa) Galligher, all of Massillon as well as extended family and friends who complete the family. Mike will be remembered for his kind and loving heart. He was always ready to help anybody who needed it. No matter what life dealt him, he continued to believe and trust that people were good, sometimes to his own detriment. Fond memories will remain of him with those who knew him and loved him. In addition to his father, Mike is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Mary Hinds Johns; maternal grandparents Paul and Mabel Vielhauer Steffe and an uncle, Paul Johns.
