Maxine Louise Basiletti

Maxine Louise Basiletti, 88, of Dover, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.

Born in New Philadelphia on January 5, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Clara C. (Dorsey) Kopp.

On April 15, 1950, Maxine married the love of her life, Clarence E. Basiletti. Her lifetime was devoted to her family and her friends.

She graduated from Tuscarawas High School in 1945. She and Clarence then began their own family and also provided love and support to foster children.

Maxine was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and formerly a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. She also enjoyed her membership with the Jolly Jokers, and the New Philadelphia Women of the Moose. Some of her favorite pastimes included crocheting, reading, and playing cards.

Her family includes her husband, Clarence; children, Melanie (Marvin) Byers of New Philadelphia, Marge (Ron) Onslow of Stone Creek, Brian (Cindi) Basiletti of New Philadelphia, and Brent (Michele) Basiletti of Tippecanoe; grandchildren, Carl (Amy) Sommers III, Jason Sommers, Monica (Sam) Ulmer, Adam Byers, Alan (Kim) Byers, Andy (Beth) Byers, Shannon (Glen) Karrenbauer, Justin, Matthew, Andrew Onslow, Chuck Slagle, Kasey and Starlyn Basiletti, and Rocco Basiletti; great-grandchildren, Slayde, Zayne, McKenzie, Brandon, Michaela, Tyler, Tanner, Morganne, AJ, Benjamin, and Colin; and her siblings, Carol Brick, Marge (Marion) Degan, Edward Kopp, Eleanor Tylka, Dan (Carol) Kopp, Larry (Glenna) Kopp, Loretta Edie, Mary McConnell, and Sam Kopp; and sister-in-law, Evey Kopp

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Basiletti; a great-granddaughter, Marissa Ulmer; brother, James Kopp; and four brothers-in-law, Marion Tylka, Harold Edie, John Brick, and Charles McConnell; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Kopp, Rosalee Kopp, and Eileen Kopp.

The family will greet guests on Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. Father Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m.in the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Friends are invited back to the St. Joseph Family Life Center to share in a meal following the burial.
