Maxine L. Weber, age 87, a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia, died Monday, July 25, 2011, in Amberwood Manor following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle Brown Murphy, Maxine was born July 23, 1924, at New Philadelphia.She attended New Philadelphia High School prior to marrying the love of her life, Carl F. Weber, Sr. on October 5, 1946. Together, the couple reared two sons and shared 48 years of marriage prior to Carl’s passing on December 31, 1994.Maxine was a longtime member of the Dover Baptist Temple at Dover and a supporter of the New Philadelphia Band Boosters. For many years, Maxine also served as a 4-H advisor and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team.Additionally, she enjoyed working word find puzzles, tending to her flower gardens which surrounded her house, and listening to traditional gospel hymns. As part of her daily routine, Maxine found comfort in the words provided to her through her “Daily Bread” devotional book and in reading her Bible.Maxine leaves behind her family which includes two sons, Carl F. Weber, Jr. of Dalton and Timothy A. (Lynette) Weber of New Philadelphia; a sister, Betty (John) DiDente of Waynesburg, Ohio and two brothers, Charles Murphy and Russell (Mel) Murphy.Two grandchildren, Timothy Weber II and Kay Weber; two great-grandchildren, Ariana and Jonathan Weber all of New Philadelphia and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Fishel and two brothers, Tom and Floyd Murphy.The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Chris Rhodes will lead a celebration of Maxine’s life on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial alongside her husband will take place in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.In appreciation of their exemplary care and service to Maxine, the family requests memorial contributions in her name to be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
