MAXINE JONES, 84, died in her daughter’s Dover home on Friday, January 31, 2003. She was born near Newport on January 4, 1919 to the late Victor D. and Anna Simmers Tschudy. After graduating from Goshen Township High School in 1937, Maxine attended the Euclid Academy of Cosmetology. She retired as a dental assistant after fourteen years having worked for Dr. Lehman. Much of Maxine’s life was dedicated to caring for children. She also volunteered her time and talent to various church activities. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family as well as quilting and flower arranging. Maxine was a past-president of the Dover South Elementary School PTA, a charter member and past-treasurer of the Dover High School PTA as well as a member and past-secretary of the Tuscarawas County AARP chapter. Additionally, Maxine was a past-president of the American Business Women’s’ Association and was presented with their “Woman Of The Year” award in 1972. She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Ann (Perry) Walker, Carole (John) Parris, both of Dover and Helen (George) Gauvey of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Evelyn Lill of St. Louis, MO and Marlene (James) Roth of Dover; a brother, Robert (Eleanor) Tschudy of Macedonia, OH; sister-in-law, Martha Tschudy of Wadsworth; eight grandchildren, James (Misty) Miller, Melanie Renner, Ronald Bearducci, Rickie Lee (Dianna) Bearducci, Christopher Parris, Shari Wright, Don M. Hughey and Robert (Sarah) Hughey; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her adopted family, John and Brenda Bitikofer and sons, Eric, Aaron and Adam. In addition to her parents, her former husband, Virgil Jones, and two brothers, Raymond and infant brother, William Tschudy, preceded Maxine in death. Calling hours will be in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Monday, February 3, 2003 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, where the funeral will be conducted Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 10:00 AM. Burial, alongside her former husband, will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Following the committal a reception will be given in the Geib Family Center, immediately adjacent to the funeral home. It was Maxine’s wish that contributions be made to “The Toy Fund, c/o Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Development Office, 1 Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308.
