Maxine Elizabeth Kimmel

Maxine Elizabeth Kimmel, 89, of New Philadelphia died Monday, October 7, 2013 at the New Dawn Retirement Center in Dover.

The daughter of the late Ross and Elizabeth Herron, Maxine was born on June 13, 1924 in Carroll County. She graduated from Sherrodsville High School.

She worked early in her life for Western Auto in New Philadelphia and later as a bank teller for Reeves Bank & Trust and Chase Bank in Dover.

Maxine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Philadelphia, enjoyed gardening, bowling, traveling, and golf.

She is survived by sons, James (Barbara) Kimmel of Westerville, Ohio, and Dennis (Shirlie) Kimmel of Encinitas, California; grandchildren, Amy Kimmel Cole of Westerville, Ohio, and Andrew (Jessica) Kimmel of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Ryland, Zoey, and Jude Kimmel and Trinity and Talia Cole.

She was preceded in death by her brother Gail Herron; and her husband of 54 years, J. Dean Kimmel.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead a service celebrating Maxine’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
