Maxine B. Severn

Maxine B. (Watson) Severn, age 93, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in her home of natural causes. Born August 15, 1914 at Newport, Ohio, Maxine was the first of 5 children born to the late Frank G. Watson and Goldie Fern (Corey) Watson. Maxine married Eugene Severn on January 25, 1934 and settled at New Philadelphia.A homemaker most of her life, Maxine enjoyed gardening and baking. She especially loved all types and colors of roses and looked forward to receiving gifts of rose bushes on special occasions. Maxine is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nancy Jo) Baker of New Philadelphia. Also surviving are a great-grandson, William L. Green II of the home; 6 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Goldie Watson; her husband Eugene Severn; two sisters Molly Virginia McGuire, Martha Jean Scott; two brothers Robert and Haldean Watson; a son, Donald “Jack” Severn, , and a grandson William Lee Green.Friends may call Thursday, November 1, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service remembering Maxine’s life will be conducted by Pastor Lester Stevens on Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the funeral home’s chapel.
