Maurice C. Schilling, 85, died Thursday morning, January 15, 2004, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover.The only child of the late Clyde and Gladis Siber Schilling, Maurice was born in Dover, OH, on February 3, l918. A soldier in the United States Army during World War II, he served in Europe as a railroad conductor.After his honorable discharge, Maurice returned to the area, working for over 40 years at the former Republic Steel in Massillon and part-time at Krebs Dry Cleaner in Dover. Maurice was married to the former Maxine J. Snyder, who preceded him in death just nineteen days ago on December 27, 2003.Maurice is survived by six of his children, Yvonne (William) Hunter of Dennison, Donita Sherer of Dover, Barton Schilling of Chillicothe, and Donald Schilling of New Philadelphia; Maurice C. (Linda) Schilling, Jr., of Dover, and Warren E. Schilling; numerous grand-children; and several great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Bradley Lee Schilling, and a grandson, Travis Hunter.No visitation or services are planned.At his request, Maurice will be cremated under the local care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
