Maude Ellen “Winnie” Fuller, age 86, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.Born on August 7, 1925, at Bellaire, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Harry Rude, and was raised by her mother and step-father, the late Lula Elkins Byrd and Walter “Bud” Byrd. Upon her graduation from Gnadenhutten High School, Winnie attended College at George Washington University of Washington, D.C. and began to work for the United States Treasury Department also within the District of Columbia. She later took employment with Nickles Bakery at Uhrichsville as an office manager in a career that would span four decades culminating in her retirement.On November 3, 1946, Winnie married Robert G. Fuller and together the couple had two daughters prior to Robert’s death.For a number of years, Winnie was a member of the Uhrichsville Lady Elks and the “Oh No” Bingo Club. She enjoyed golfing in the women’s golf league, quilting, gardening, and painting. She looked forward to helping her late husband prepare for the annual Elk’s Minstrel shows and was always proud of the fact that during World War II she was a riveter on fighter planes during their assembly.Winnie is survived by a daughter, Robin Toole of New Philadelphia; five granddaughters, Traci Reichman also of New Philadelphia, Jamie Mathias of Strasburg, Amy Cox-Jones and her husband, Justin Jones, Lynnette Cox-Bateman and her husband, Michael Bateman all of Dover and Beth Ann Cox of Dennison; and a grandson, Emery Cox of Uhrichsville.Completing the family are 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.In addition to her father, mother, step-father, and husband, Winnie was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Cox-Elrod and eight siblings.The family will receive friends on Friday, December 23, one hour prior to services, from 10:00 â?? 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Celebrant Nathan Douglas will lead Winnie’s funeral ceremony in the funeral home’s chapel at 11AM on Friday. Private burial will take place in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville at a later date.Following the committal service family and friends will gather for a reception in the Shel-Mar Community Center.
