MaryAnn Hursey, 81, of Newcomerstown, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 surrounded by her family in the care of Community Hospice at New Philadelphia.
A daughter of the late Ruth (Pyle) and Anthony Nigro, MaryAnn was born October 10, 1935 at Dover, Ohio.
MaryAnn had co-owned Port Grocery at Port Washington, where she was known for her cooking and baking. She was a member at First Baptist Church in Port Washington and most recently attended the Hartwood Church at Newcomerstown.
She is survived by her loving husband John Hursey, Sr., whom she married October 9, 1954; three children, Ruth Hursey-McCoy, David (Debbie) Hursey, and Thomas (Laura) Hursey; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Nancy Buchanan, Susan (Richard) Wilson, and Tony (Ardath) Nigro; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John Hursey, Jr. and her brother-in-law, Joe Buchanan.
In keeping with the family’s wishes there will be no public calling hours and a service celebrating her life will take place at a later date. The cremation care will be handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.
