Mary T. “T.T.” Wilhelm, age 91, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a brief illness.
Born September 19, 1925, at Minerva, Ohio, Mary was a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Kathryn (Rogers) McCullough. On November 27, 1947, Mary wed E. Dick Wilhelm, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 12, 1984.
Mary was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and attended Mary Manse Catholic Girls College at Toledo, Ohio. For a period of time, she taught Second Grade at Sacred Heart School and later worked as a banker and bookkeeper.
A lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia, Mary was involved in the Altar Society and the LCBA. She was also an active member of the New Philadelphia Lady Elks, #510, and served many years as the organization’s President. She was an avid Bridge and Duplicate player and enjoyed playing Scrabble and working challenging crossword puzzles.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Victoria A. Wilhelm of Strasburg, and Kristine Wilhelm Knisely of Shallotte, NC; a son, E. Dick (Connie) Wilhelm, Jr. of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Heidi Huffman Wilhelm of Dallas, TX; the loves of her life, six grandchildren, Bryan (Rachel) Knisely, Matthew Knisely, Eric (Megan) Wilhelm, Jennifer (Christopher) Barkley, Ryan Wilhelm and Steven Wilhelm; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ava Clare, Kaylee and Collin Knisely and Alexander Barkley; a step-granddaughter, Heather Edwards, two step-grandsons, B.J. (Michelle) Brown and Evan (Shannon) Brown; five step-great-grandchildren, Brandon Lynch, Alexa, Bailey, and Jackson Brown, and Ethan Edwards as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved son, Mark J. Wilhelm who died on July 19, 2010; three brothers, James, Thomas, and Joseph McCullough, and a sister, Helen McCullough Mindling.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 1:30-2:15 during a memorial visitation in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Fr. Daniel Mindling, OFM, cap, at 2:30 PM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
