Mary Rose Beans

Mary Rose (Sarto) Kostelnik Douglass Beans, 83, of New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 in the Community Hospice House following complications from an apparent heart attack and a fall at her home.

Born in Lore City, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Leanoria (Cenis) Sarto. She graduated from Lore City High School.

Mary Rose spent her life caring for her family, working for a short period of time with the Second Hand Rose Resale Shop in New Philadelphia.

She was avid reader and loved watching Days of Our Lives each afternoon. She also gave of her time as a volunteer with Community Hospice Browse & Buy. Beginning in 1992, Mary Rose and her husband, Charles “Austin” Beans, began wintering in Lake Wales, Florida. Many wonderful friendships were made at the campsite and playing Bingo.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Austin, whom she wed October 26, 1987; her children, Connie (Lyndell) Starcher of Westerville, Mike (Becky) Kostelnik of North Canton, Brian Kostelnik of Newcomerstown, Darell (Lori) Douglass of Dover, Tim Beans of Akron, and Peggy (Robert) Clark of Cuyahoga Falls; her daughters-in-law, Becky Holmes Kostelnik and Carole Beans; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Larry Kostelnik and David Beans; and her brother, Wallace Sarto.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, 116 Second Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday beginning at 10:30 am with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
