Mary Postel

Mary Ann Postel, 78, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John Moore and the late Barbara (Abel) Moore Walker, Mary was born September 29, 1935 at Goshen Township, Ohio.

Mary was formerly employed as a cleaning lady for the New Philadelphia Moose and New Philadelphia Eagles Lodges as well as for Dr. Gile’s office. She enjoyed playing cards, dice and coloring.

She is survived by her children, Butch (Diane) Postel of New Philadelphia, Barbara Postel of Nebraska, Richard (Joan) Postel of Iowa and Randy (Pam) Postel; her grandchildren, Chad (Carey) Postel and Jeremy (Lindsey Soto) both of New Philadelphia, Eric Postel of New Philadelphia, Olibio Topete of Nebraska, Mary Topete of New Mexico, Tim Topete of Nebraska, Blake Matz of Georgia, Holly Matz of New Philadelphia, Melissa Matz of Virginia, Jesse Matz of Florida and Charles and Betty Postel both of New Philadelphia; 14 great grandchildren; three siblings, John (Mary) Moore of Wisconsin, Betty Burilson of California and Jim (Peggy) Moore of New Philadelphia and two sisters-in-law, Mick Moore and Beverly Moore both of New Philadelphia.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob and Russ Moore.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery.
