Mary "Liz" Martin

Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Martin, 76, of New Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late James Truman and Betty June Simpson, Liz was born May 21, 1947 at Dennison, Ohio.

She graduated in the final class of Dennison High School.  She worked for many years as a Processing Specialist for Horizon, Inc.  In her free time, she loved music and was an excellent dancer.

She is survived by her children, Leslie “Teri” Martin of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jeffrey “Jeff” Martin of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Sierra Richards, James Barnett, Oddessa Martin, Denise Elizabeth Martin, O’Rhen Martin, and Scottlynd Martin; great-grandchildren, Nautica Richards, Marquis Barnhart, Jr., Ariana Richards, Ocean Martin, Akira Martin, Sofia Barnett, Auna Eulinberg, and Jervaunn Gaskins; life-long best friend, Sherry Hughes; half-brother, Levi Upshaw; half-sisters, Tina Truman-Holloway, Canisha Johnson, and Rosa Upshaw; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond Upshaw, and Gary Truman; and sister, Jackie Gadison.

In keeping with Liz’s wishes, there are no services planned at this time.  Cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory.
